Dixie Lee Grace was born in San Antonio, Texas, and remained proud of her Texas roots. She graduated from Northside High School and Trinity University in San Antonio, and worked in radio journalism before beginning her family. She later operated her own catering company in the Cleveland, Ohio, area, bringing joy and good taste to her clients’ parties.
She was a member of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church, serving there as an elder, and held positions in various chapters of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was a dedicated community servant, recycler, creator of Halloween and Nativity costumes, and giver of Christmas gifts, among many other timeless virtues. She lived among, and will be remembered fondly by, a noteworthy cast of family, friends, colleagues, and fellow travelers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry H. Grace and La Toska Lois Frazee.
She is survived by children William Stacey (Flora Calderón-Steck), Allegra, and Randall (Katherine); and by grandchildren Julian, Lucia, Jonathan, Evelyn, and Miriam.
A memorial service was held in Lexington on Sept. 2.
