ERNEST HOSTETTER
Born March 4, 1953, in Alabama, he was a son of the late Ira Freemont Hostetter and Julia May “Sis” Wiseman Hostetter.
Ray retired from the carpentry shop at Washington and Lee University after 42 years of service. He loved his trucks, tractors and enjoyed collecting wooden ducks.
Surviving are his sons, Kevin Ray Hostetter (Jennifer) and William Keith Hostetter; sister, Cheryl Black; grandson, Dylan Thomas Hostetter; niece, Kathleen Black; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling III.
Ray loved his cats and the family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be directed to Cats Unlimited, P.O. Box 484, Lexington, VA 24450.
The family would like to thank Karen, his hospice nurse, for her kindness and compassion during the days leading to his death.
