RODNEY “BUCK” MARTIN
Born March 15, 1940, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of John Cleo and Hassie Mae (Entsminger) Martin.
As an avid outdoorsman, Buck greatly enjoyed camping, fishing, and going to dirt track races with family. He loved listening to bluegrass music and looked forward to attending the Bluegrass Festival everywhere. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie (Nuckols) Martin; and sister, Shirley Hart.
Survivors include his four children, Carolyn Hill (Wayne) of Natural Bridge, Marsha Wade of Buena Vista, Rodney S. Martin of Lexington, and Bernard Martin (Theresa) of Natural Bridge; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Stanley, Jeannie, Myra, Megan, Josh, J.R. and Samantha; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma Lilly of Buena Vista, May Lowe of Montvale, Ola Westmoreland of Montvale, and Mamie Floyd of California; special friends, Dorsey Hostetter, Clarence Patterson and Wade Deacon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Ben Salem Presbyterian Church, 34 Ben Salem Lane, Buena Vista, with Dorsey Hostetter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
