The Collierstown United Methodist Church celebrated the fourth Sunday of Advent with Edith Rhodenizer, Delores Rhodenizer, and Wanda Scott lighting the Advent Candle of Peace on Sunday, Dec. 22. The Collierstown United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. On Sunday, Dec. 28, both congregations of the Collierstown United Methodist Charge will worship together at the Mt. Horeb Church at 11 a.m. A covered-dish lunch and a time of fellowship will follow the worship service.

Larry and Karey Ramsey led the lighting the Advent Candle of Peace as a part of the 11 a.m. worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Dec. 22. During the worship hour, the church’s children presented their annual Christmas program to the congregation. Light refreshments and a time of fellowship followed in the church’s fellowship hall. The church’s Christmas Eve services will be held at 3 and 9 p.m.

The Union View Advent Christian Church will hold a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. for members and community friends. The church is located at 4574 Turnpike Road.

Special birthday wishes are extended to Claire Friend who celebrated her 97th birthday on Dec. 18. Mrs. Friend is a former community resident and an active member of the Collierstown United Methodist Church.

The Effinger Ruritan Club’s 2025 Community Birthday Calendars have arrived. Club members will be contacting patrons and distributing calendars. Additional calendars may be purchased by contacting any Ruritan Club member. The cost of a calendar is $4.
