Rockbridge Chorus Begins Rehearsals For Spring Concert

The Rockbridge Chorus, William McCorkle, director, will begin rehearsals for its Spring Concert on Monday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Lexington Presbyterian Church (120 S. Main St.). Rehearsals will continue on Monday evenings at 7:30 at the church.

At the Feb. 3 rehearsal, the chorus will launch its work on a program of music by Gilbert & Sullivan, to be given on Sunday, April 27, at Lexington Presbyterian Church. The concert performance will feature the short operetta “Trial by Jury” as well as popular selections from other Gilbert and Sullivan works, including “The Mikado,” “The Pirates of Penzance” and “Iolanthe.”

All singers interested in participating in the chorus are invited to attend the Feb. 3 rehearsal. There is a membership fee, but scholarship assistance is available. Anyone needing more information, or any singer planning to sing but unable to attend the rehearsal, is asked to call Melanie Griffis Hooper at (540) 460-9650. The Rockbridge Chorus is a part of the Rockbridge Choral Society, which is supported by donations from area individuals, businesses, and organizations.
