Nominations for the ninth annual Distinguished Alumni Award from Mountain Gateway Community College are now being accepted.
Established in 2017, this award recognizes MGCC alumni who have realized exemplary distinction in their professions, and honors all those at the college who have assisted them on the path to success, ultimately enabling them to enrich their communities.
Nominees should: ● Be a graduate of or have completed a minimum of two semesters at Mountain Gateway Community College.
● Be present to accept the award and be the commencement speaker at the May 2025 graduation.
● Have attained extraordinary distinction and success in his or her professional career or personal life.
● Have attained regional, statewide, or national distinction and/or have significant involvement in civic, cultural, or charitable activities.
Previous recipients included Steven Leitch, 2017; John Stone, 2018; Julie Persinger Gardiner, 2019; Nova Wright, 2020; Ashby Clements, 2021; Dr. Catherine Hiler, 2022; Dr. Devan Nicely, 2023 and Chris Fisher, 2024.
Nominations may be made by visiting www. mgcc.edu/alumni and completing the nomination form. Nominations may also be mailed to: MGCC Educational Foundation, 1000 College Drive, Clifton Forge, VA 24422. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, to the MGCC Educational Foundation/Office of Institutional Advancement.
The award will be presented at the Mountain Gateway Community College commencement exercises on Friday, May 9.
