Crow’s Post Topic Of Local History Center Program

The Local History Center of Rockbridge Regional Library System is making plans for a free program, “Bond of Friendship: The Crow’s Post,” on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. at James E. Thompson Community Center in Glasgow.

“Bond of Friendship” will center around Maxine Gray’s book “The Crow’s Post.” Beginning in the early 1900s, the Black men of Glasgow gathered at the corner of Catawba and 4th Street, socializing around the wooden bench known as the Crow’s Post.

Numerous citizens will reminisce about their or their family members’ experiences at the gathering place. The dedication of the newly constructed Crow’s Post will be a focal point of the program.
