Richard Dean Newell, 67, of Lexington passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, in Johnston-WillisHospital in Richmond. Born Nov. 8, 1957, he was a son of Malcolm Newell and the late Ethel (Judy) Newell.

He was a graduate of LexingtonHigh School. Ricky was an assistant manager with Walmart and later in life an employee of Mohawk Industries and Dana Incorporated. Ricky loved to travel, watch his great nephew play baseball and loved his cats.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel (Judy) Elizabeth O'Connor Newell.

Surviving are his father, Malcolm Carlyle-Newell; brother and sister-in-law, James (Butch) and Jean Newell; niece and nephew-in-law, Dawn and Paul Majors Jr.; nephew and niece-in-law, Glenn and Shelly Newell; great-nieces and nephews, Dalton and Whitney Newell, Gabreille Majors, MaKenna Newell and Ben Sheets, Chloe Newell, Zachary Majors and Brady Majors; and great-great-nephews, Luca and Maverick Sheets

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Oak Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Jim Reynolds. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Mac Newell.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
