How to ensure the best breastfeeding experience will be the topic for the Tuesday, June 13, meeting of the La Leche League to be held at 10 a.m. in the classrooms of Grace Presbyterian Church at 40 Village Way.

The Rockbridge Bird Club is sponsoring its last-of-the-season “Second-Saturday Birding at Boxerwood” event this coming Saturday, June 10. Everyone interested in birds is welcome, including first-timers and families, and all are invited to meet at 8 a.m. at the Nature Center parking lot (963 Ross Road) for a two-hour stroll.

The Rockbridge Retired Teachers will meet on Monday, June 19, at the Holiday Inn Express on U.S. 11 north of Lexington. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a bag luncheon at noon.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Rockbridge County has been scheduled for Aug. 19 at Central Elementary School.

The Rockbridge SPCA is bringing puppies, kittens, and more to the Glasgow Public Library on Thursday, June 15, at noon. This event will kick off the library’s summer reading program “All Together Now!”

The Raphine Volunteer Fire Company is having its annual carnival Wednesday, June 14, through Saturday, June 17. It will start at 6 each evening.

Mountain Gateway Community College is hosting the annual Summer Teacher Institute, for area teachers to earn continuing education credits, beginning June 19. Ten twoday, one-credit courses will be held in Warren Hall on the MGCC Clifton Forge campus; one of the courses is being offered online, which began May 30. Several of the instructors are members of the faculty and staff at MGCC.
