Feral cats used to be a big problem at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista. In 2014, there were a couple of hundred such cats roaming the park’s grounds. Mary Huffman, long a local cat advocate, decided to do something about it. With assistance from Cats Unlimited, a local advocacy group, Huffman launched a concerted effort to trap, neuter/spay and return the feral felines.

Malcolm Brownlee conducted a service of installation for Judy Goodbar as she assumed the office of elder. She joins elders Rosalea Potter and Richard Davis in the class of 2024. Rev. Brownlee also presided over the church’s annual congregational meeting at the close of the worship hour.

June Cash celebrated her 90th birthday at a luncheon in the fellowship hall of Glasgow Baptist Church, following morning worship services, this past Sunday, Feb. 5. Attending were members of her family, friends from church, friends from outside the community, and neighbors, like Kathy Burant, and husband Harper, who helped plan the event for her. Attendees enjoyed some delicious foods, as they wished June a happy birthday with gifts and cards.
