PM Netters Improve To 6-2 In Pioneer

Rockbridge County (0-7) at Spotswood (7-1) WHEN: 7 p.m. on Friday WHERE: Spotswood High School in Penn Laird LAST YEAR: The Wildcats suffered a 25-20 loss in a rollercoaster of a Valley District opener at Spotswood. The Trailblazers scored the winning touchdown when Elliott Brown completed a pass to Nicholas Sheets, who ran away from defenders for a 65-yard TD with 2:05 left. Brown passed for 166 yards, while Ryane Dean scored two TDs for Spotswood. Scoring one TD each for the Wildcats were Clay Irvine, Andreas Poindexter and Daronde’ Stores.

Craig County (2-3) at Parry McCluer (4-2) WHEN: 7 p.m. on Friday WHERE: Bobby Williams Field in Buena Vista LAST YEAR: Evan C ook busted off an 83-yard touchdown run on PM’s second play from scrimmage, and the Fighting Blues never looked back in a 41-7 home win. Cook had a monster night, totaling 147 rushing yards and four touchdowns on just 10 carries, while John Snider added 83 yards on 15 totes. The Rockets’ lone touchdown came with just six seconds remaining in the game.
