There were plenty of thrills to entertain the crowd at the Lone Star Rodeo held this past Friday and Saturday night at the Virginia Horse Center’s Anderson Coliseum. ABOVE, Jamie Will of Harrisonburg takes his turn in the bull riding competition on Friday. The following night Chance Howard of Lexington was the champion in this competition. St. John’s Episcopal Church in Glasgow observed Shrove Tuesday on Feb. 21 with a chili dinner. The church had observed the day with a pancake dinner, but it was decided a few years back that chili was better. Congregants gathered around the communal table to share four different kinds of chili. The church’s last Shrove Tuesday dinner was pre-pandemic in 2020 when it was joined with a “thank you” dinner for the spring break mission group of students from the College of the Holy Cross. Lexington Presbyterian Church will be holding its biennial Festival of Faith on Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12, with guest speaker the Rev. Aisha Brooks-Johnson, Executive Presbyter of Greater Atlanta.
