Please advocate for our younger generations to be included in our Medical Necessity Scope of Care for all Cancer screenings. Cancer is a frightening word. But just as frightening and infuriating are hearing the words our medical standards for cancer screenings at younger ages have failed your loved one. Do not let your younger loved ones be the next ones to hear the word Cancer.

William Howell Wright, 98, a resident of Kendal at Lexington, died Nov. 26, 2023.

Randall Lynn Ruley, 55, of Lexington died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Lewis Gale Medical Center.

Janice Cleo Hudson Lavender, 82, of Buena Vista, went home on Dec. 17, 2023, after a long illness. Born Oct. 30, 1941, in Amherst, she was the daughter of the late Woodville and Gladys Hudson.

Frederick “Freddie” Allen Goodbar, 69, of Roanoke passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023.

Edith “Edie” (Wagner) Humphries was born on June 4, 1956, to Frances and Robert “Bobby” Wagner in Buena Vista. She passed away on Dec. 17, 2023, after suffering a long illness.

Karen Viola Powell, 63, of Natural Bridge passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023.

Velma Marlene Madsen was born to Soren and Myrtle Rungborg, the oldest child of three at their home in Reserve, Mont., on Jan. 26, 1931. She passed away on Dec. 1, 2023, at the Bozeman Lodge in Bozeman, Mont., with loving daughters by her side.

Judith M. Rogers, 80, of Buena Vista passed away Dec. 10, 2023, at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital in Lexington.

Doris Wade Weeks, aged 85, of Fairfield, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023.

Sarah Rose Cumming, 33, a 2008 graduate of Rockbridge County High, died Dec. 6, 2023, of an astrocytoma brain tumor, the last of a series of cancers she had survived since age 14.

Monty Johnston, 79, of Natural Bridge Station died on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, from pancreatic cancer and related complications. His last month of life was blessed by a path of talented, compassionate caregivers who helped Monty and his family find the way to his passing on.

Harry Everett Swisher II, 65, of Glasgow passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.

Robert “Bob” Glidden, age 87, entered eternal rest on Dec. 5, 2023.
