Dec. 11, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: I sat down to write a letter regarding the recent uproar over “Kiss Number Eight.” But just before I began, I read Glen Rose’s column in the Dec. 6 edition of the N-G and realized I had little to add to his excellent observations. He nailed it, and he did so with thoughtful, insightful intelligent writing. Moreover, he read the book.

Judith M. Rogers, 80, of Buena Vista passed away Dec. 10, 2023, at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital in Lexington.

Monty Johnston, 79, of Natural Bridge Station died on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, from pancreatic cancer and related complications. His last month of life was blessed by a path of talented, compassionate caregivers who helped Monty and his family find the way to his passing on.

Harry Everett Swisher II, 65, of Glasgow passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.

Devoted, faithful, hardworking, and, selfless, Mary Catherine Webb Kessinger’s love of God, family, and life didn’t come to an end with her death. Catherine, as most people knew her, passed away in Lexington from an ailing heart on Dec. 9, 2023, at the age of 95.

William “Bill” Devereaux Grow, 88, of Harrisonburg died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, in Harrisonburg.

Sarah Rose Cumming, 33, a 2008 graduate of Rockbridge County High, died Dec. 6, 2023, of an astrocytoma brain tumor, the last of a series of cancers she had survived since age 14.
