Rare Dalí Art On Display At Staniar

The Community Anti-Racism Effort of Rockbridge County (CARE) is once again gearing up to fill the streets of downtown Lexington with its Martin Luther King Jr. Community Parade Monday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m.

First Baptist Church in Lexington will host the MLK Community Worship Service on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 4 p.m. with guest speaker Dr. Paul Lowe.

Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta, will deliver the keynote address for Washington and Lee University’s weeklong celebration of the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Officials Express Hopes For 2024 At Breakfast

Local students and the Prevention Unit of Rockbridge Area Community Services took part in the Red Ribbon Week national drug prevention awareness campaign last October.

The following local students are also attending college this year: Anna Barrash Wilson at Dickinson College; Ren Price at Bard College; Elaine Price at Dickinson College. Their names were received after The News-Gazette published its annual Off to College list last month.

The Rockbridge Cattlemen’s Association invites cattle producers and their supporters to its annual meeting with dinner and an informative talk on the U.S. and Virginia cattle markets in 2024 and 2025. The program will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Appomattox Mezzanine of the Virginia Horse Center. What was forecasted to be a major winter storm last Saturday turned into not much of anything, except for some freezing rain in some areas of the county, as seen in this photo by Susan Perry in Raphine. A second storm Tuesday, however, brought lots of rain and some reports of light snow.
