The Lexington Police Camp and Greater Rockbridge County Skateboarder Coalition hosted 42 campers at the Lexington Skatepark for free lessons for the campers on July 31.

The Chessie Nature Trail, which runs along the Maury River from Lexington to Buena Vista, is a mecca to tourists, hikers, bikers, and nature lovers.

The College Orientation Workshop Inc. (COW) program returned to Virginia Military Institute this summer, marking its 37th year of transforming the lives of promising, male, minority high school students.

These so called “Thrill Vacations” or “Extreme Adventures,” like the submersible Titan which imploded while diving to the wreck of the Titanic, demonstrate how very fragile life is on Planet Earth.

The Palmer Ice Cream Supper hosted by the Effinger Ruritan Club will be held this Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Palmer Community Center, 1230 Blue Grass Trail, beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until dark.

The Valley Program for Aging Services is offering two workshop series designed to prevent falls this autumn. Both will be held at Maury River Senior Services, 2137 Magnolia Ave., Buena Vista.
