The bookmobile will be parked at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church (2348 West Midland Trail) on Thursdays in July from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 pm. Come on out to check out a book, and stick around to catch some shade under the church pavilion or play at the church playground. Thursday, July 6, will be the first stop of the bookmobile at New Monmouth.
At the Lexington Farmers Market on Wednesday, June 28, Michelle Wells of Hearthstone Farm in Fairfield interacts with students from the Virginia Governor’s World Language Academies at Washington and Lee University. The Virginia high school students are taking part in a three-week full-language immersion program in which they are allowed to speak only one of three languages – Spanish, French or German. The 29th annual Maury River Fiddlers Convention was held June 16 and 17 at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista. Winners in the various competitions are as follows: Bluegrass Band – Garden Variety Band of Richmond, first place; Happy Valley Boys of Lexington, second; Cannabis Mountain Boys of Eagle Rock, third.
