New ‘Epilogue’: 12 W&L Men Make It To The Big Leagues

Washington and Lee University isn’t the first college that comes to mind when one thinks of professional sports. W&L did have its moment in the football sun in the first half of the 20th century topping the Southern Conference twice and earning an appearance in the Gator Bowl, and in the 1970s it was a NCAA Division I lacrosse powerhouse.

Ecco Adesso Vineyards in Fairfield has won a top award in the 2024 Virginia Governor’s Cup competition. The Virginia Wineries Association conducts the competition, now in its 42nd year, and is one of the most stringent wine competitions in the nation. The year, the judging was done at Breaux Vineyards in Purcellville in January over two tasting rounds.

Spring Burn Laws Now In Effect

The Virginia Department of Forestry joins fire departments across Virginia to announce spring fire season and raise awareness of the statewide burning law, in effect from Feb. 15 through April 30. The law prohibits outdoor burning before 4 p.m. when the fire is within 300 feet of the woods or dry grass.
