Project Horizon Assistant Director Ellen Wheeler will introduce Rain, Project Horizon’s service dog, at the Rockbridge Regional Library on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. Wheeler will detail how Rain provides comforting support for victims of domestic abuse and will demonstrate the way she communicates with Rain to help her interact with clients at the Project Horizon center and during court and medical services.

The VMI Community Theatre will hold auditions for its spring show, “The Night of January 16th,” Monday, Jan. 22, Tuesday, Jan. 23, Wednesday, Jan. 24, and Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:45 p.m. in Gillis Theater located in Marshall Hall.

In a bid to encourage home gardening and sustainable living, Rockbridge Area Master Gardeners Association (RAMGA) is hosting a free seed event Saturday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Rockbridge Area Relief Association (RARA) building at 350 Spotswood Drive, Lexington.

Annie Lucille Reynolds Masters Coleman of Lexington Virginia celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 6, 2024, at the Quality Inn in Timber Ridge, surrounded by family and friends.

For the current Staniar Gallery exhibit, “Salvador Dali: Les chants de Maldoror,” the gallery will have a change of hours and be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, whenever the regular university days are in effect.

Buena Vista Masonic Lodge held its 152nd annual installation of officers on Jan. 6 in the Buena Vista lodge room. Masonry is a centuries-old worldwide fraternity of men who cherish ideals of morality, friendship, virtue, and brotherly love, according to a spokesman. They are involved in many local programs and offer scholarships to students from the area. The lodges in Buena Vista, Lexington and Glasgow welcome any inquiries from men who are willing to invest one night a month to pursue these goals. The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, the Office of Global Education, and the Dean’s Academic Speakers Program at Virginia Military Institute will present three French films this month and next as part of the 2024 Spring Albertine Cinémathèque film series.
