‘A Romantic Bouquet’

The Washington and Lee Music Department will present a faculty recital, “Anima E Grazia, A Romantic Bouquet,” featuring Julia Goudimova, cello, and Anna Billias, piano, on Sunday, May 14, at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall. The members of the local duet, Anima e Grazia, are hard at work preparing for this Mother’s Day gift, a bouquet featuring romantic composers of the world. “Goudimova and Billias will weave their grace and passion into both the famous and the undiscovered gems of international music literature,” said a spokeswoman.

Children were able to meet their teachers for next year, visit with local law enforcement and fire and rescue personnel, and talk with other community partners. Members of the RCHS community gathered at The Seclusion April 19 to honor educators at the 2023 RCHS PTSA Wildcat Inspiration Awards. Each year the PTSA invites senior students to nominate an adult in the RCPS/LCPS community who has inspired, challenged or encouraged them during their school career, and this year six educators were honored: David Miller, teacher and coach at RCHS; Katelyn Nicely, fifth grade teacher at Fairfield Elementary; Jessika Crance, special education teacher at RCHS; Heather Kilgore, former English teacher at LDMS; Ariadne Paxton, environmental science teacher at RCHS; and Robyn Sherman, CTE supervisor at RCHS. The 13th superintendent of Virginia Military Institute, Lt. Gen. Josiah Bunting III ’63, was on post on April 25 to reunite with his brother rats of the class of 1963, but he spent a portion of the morning in Preston Library in a ceremony to recognize his recent contributions to VMI’s archives.
