After A Long Five Days
After A Long Five Days

The final timbers were put into place late last Tuesday afternoon on the new Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization pavilion at Brewbaker Park. One of the final touches was the installation of a RARO weather vane (below left) crafted by local blacksmith Ian Hart. When everything was completed, there were cheers and hugs, and then the timber frame volunteers enjoyed a dinner served up by players in the RARO pickleball program and the Virginia Bandits girls fast-pitch baseball team (below right). About 120 timber frame volunteers from multiple states and even Ontario, along with 15 VMI cadets, came to work on the five-day project, which is now one of about a dozen completed timber frame projects in the Rockbridge area. Roofing work by donated labor is next up for the RARO project, along with electrical work. Picnic tables will also be ordered. RARO hopes to have the project fully completed by the end of the month. Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 High Bridge Presbyterian Church celebrated the resurrection of the Lord this past Sunday with the Rev. Jen Brothers bringing the message. We enjoyed seeing families returning for the service and friends from near and far. It was especially good to see Joanna Whitmore and Catherine Kessinger since they have been convalescing at home and also good to see Beth Braford Thompson, daughter of the late Lloyd and Louise Braford, who makes her home now at Kendal.
