Musicians On Display
Musicians On Display

Artist Arvid Christiansen explains his paintings of musicians who participated in the Wednesday morning music jam sessions in various locations in Lexington from the early 1980s until last year. The paintings are on display at Sweet Treats Bakery. Christiansen, 88, has been attending the jam sessions for the past six years, taking photos of the musicians and then painting from the photographs. He’s done 79 paintings of the musicians, and Sweet Treats employee Adrian Gonsalves chose 42 of them to hang at the bakery. A retired New Jersey chemical company executive who also taught chemistry at Virginia Military Institute, Christiansen taught himself how to paint and has been painting since he was 9 years old.
