Cleaning Up Rockbridge

On Sunday, March 19, Frank Root was the guest speaker for the morning worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church. Special music was provided by Stacy Stevens. The final weekly four-centsa- week offering will be collected for the purchase of food supplies for the Effinger community’s Rise Against Hunger packing day to be held in June 2024 on Sunday, March 26. Donations may be mailed to the Collierstown Presbyterian Church, 31 Church Drive, Lexington, VA 24450. Please designate gifts for Rise Against Hunger.

Rachel Clark, (630) 607-9938 Thank you to the choir at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church for providing the call to worship “Beautiful Wounds” during Sunday’s service at New Monmouth. The praise team led the church in singing “Come Ye Sinners.” Thank you to Teresa Thompson, Laura Hotinger, and Dianne Swink for the beautiful offertory, “Jesus Died Alone.” Pastor Casey Clark preached from John 5 and why we should embrace Christ as judge.

Esther Pennington, High Bridge Presbyterian Church welcomed Bob Gilbert to the pulpit this past Sunday. His sermon title was “Why?” and he shared stories of helping his father. Next week, elder Scott Hannah will deliver the morning service and message.

Holy Communion will be observed during worship hour at Oxford Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 26, at 11 a.m. Joanna Fainter will be the pianist

Next RHS Walking Tour Focuses On Education

FUREVER FRIENDS would like to thank each and every one who helped to make our fund raising cake walk a great success! From the business community who supported us with many, many gift certificates and the individual community members who not only donated money, but the nicest of gift items for the door prizes and to the people who attended and walked all night! We had over 175 people in attendance and over 125 cakes and goodies!!! Special thanks to The BVFD for their support, T&J Entertainment for providing the music and all the volunteers who baked and baked so many cakes, provided the kitchen food, the manpower and the laughs! Hull’s Drive-In is opening for the 2023 season.

The Washington and Lee University Hillel held its annual latke-hamantaschen debate last Tuesday to determine which food was better, and the audience voted for the latkes. The event coincided with holiday Purim, which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of an official of the Achaemenid Empire named Haman. AT LEFT, Bill Hamilton argues on behalf of the latkes, showing why they are more suited for mobility. Hamilton’s teammate was Jeff Schatten, while Lisa Greer and Brian Alexander argued for the hamantaschen. Political Topics Also Come Up During Visits

The Marlbrook Chamber Players will perform their favorite “Classic Gems” of the chamber music literature at 3 p.m. on March 19 in the Wilson Concert Hall at Washington and Lee University.

The University Orchestra will feature Washington and Lee University senior Taylor Colaizzi, winner of the 2022-23 Concerto-Aria Contest, during its next concert on March 23 at 8 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall.

Rockbridge County High School’s student art show opened at Earth, Fire, and Spirit Pottery gallery in downtown Lexington on March 3.

The Rockbridge Baths Community Organization will present a potluck meal and a presentation on “The History of Rockbridge Baths” on Sunday, March 19, at 1 p.m. at the Rockbridge Baths firehouse.
