PM Falls To Highland, Trounces EastMont

Lee Qualifies For State In Girls’ 3200

The Parry McCluer High School softball team suffered an 11-5 loss at Temple Christian in nondistrict action on Monday of last week before earning an 11-8 road win over Pioneer District rival Eastern Montgomery last Wednesday.

Parry McCluer High School senior girls basketball player Anna Claytor was named to the Virginia High School League Class 1 all-state second team on March 31.

Sensei Dusti Casperson won the Grand Championship in the Women’s Fighting Division, along with other students that won five first-place trophies in the Black Belt Fighting Division, one first-place trophy in the Black Belt Forms Division, one third-place trophy in the Under Belt Fighting Division, two third-place trophies in the Under Belt Forms Division, two fourth-place trophies in the Under Belt Weapons Division and five medals in Under Belt Weapons.

Winning three events, the Rockbridge County High School outdoor track and field teams had many strong performances in their first meet of the season on March 29 at Broadway.

The Parry McCluer High School girls tennis team improved to 2-0 by earning a 6-3 road win over Alleghany on Tuesday of last week.

The Virginia Military Institute boxing club team, called the Regulators, placed third overall in the 2023 United States Intercollegiate Boxing Association National Tournament, which was held in VMI’s Cocke Hall March 23-25.

The Rockbridge County High School girls tennis team earned a 5-4 home win over Broadway in the Valley District opener on Tuesday of last week at the Lexington Country Club courts.
